Avocor F8650 Interactive Display Review

ESCO has recently acquired an Avocor F8650 interactive display for our boardroom in replacement of the 84″ surface hub that was originally installed.

I did a basic setup and spent some time exploring the functions of the new screen.

Here’s my review of this product:

The Avocor F50 series (F8650) utilises the latest InGlass technology, combined with an optically bonded glass which includes a new, ultra-fast ink touch performance that supports up to 20 individual touch points and 4 pens. Since the product was advertised as an interactive and collaborative tool for meetings, I have decided to test it out by installing several collaboration softwares on the OPS computer that supports Windows 10.

The first software that was installed is the Zoom Room video conferencing solution. Combining the touch screen capability and Zoom Room’s feature, the Zoom Room software automatically switched itself to the touch screen version.

This solution clearly separates itself from the regular Video Conferencing collaboration solution. Upon launching the system, you will be presented with various collaboration functions which fully utilises the touch screen’s capabilities.

Firstly, the whiteboard feature enables you to use the included pens, for a quick interactive discussion. As this is a touch screen version of Zoom, a keyboard or mouse is not required. You can simply touch the buttons on the screen and easily launch a meeting, join a meeting or start a local presentation. By connecting a USB camera and speakerphone, you can start a Video Conferencing meeting with just one touch.

The Avocor F8650 can also function as a local interactive and presentation tool. The product came with its own version of a whiteboard; the Avocor Note by Nureva™. Avocor Note fully supports object awareness, includes pen, finger and palm recognition. Content created in the software can be easily shared with others, either as a complete whiteboard session page, individually as an image or as a file, printed in a PDF format.

Content can be brought in and shared through OneNote and Microsoft EDGE for further collaboration. At the same time, content created can also be shared via Microsoft OneNote and Outlook. The screen comes with a built-in menu bar at the bottom, allowing you to switch between the OPS or any wireless presentation devices that is connected to the HDMI input port of the screen.

Finally, since the built-in OPS supports windows 10, you now have the option to customise the user experience to best suit your company’s needs.
